A Pretty Perfect Sugar Cookie

A Pretty Perfect Sugar Cookie

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (leveled)
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
3/4 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

Now, interestingly enough, I forgot the baking soda until the very end after I’d mixed it and put the dough in the fridge. Then I accidentally used baking powder. Still, the cookies turned out great. Maybe that’s why!

I didn’t use the dough until the next day and had to warm it a tad to work with it. I just rolled it out and cut out circles with a glass. J said the taste was perfect but he was also very impressed with the fact that they were all the same thickness and exactly the same shape 🙂 He knew I cut them out, but still, i guess they looked pretty awesome. I got this recipe from Real Simple magazine and I’m glad I cut it out!
